Getting Married and Losing Friends: I Said Yes, She Said Bye Girl

Getting Married and Losing Friends: I Said Yes, She Said Bye Girl

It's like you go on trial with your friendships when you get married. You're being judged, being convicted, and having to defend yourself with your friends. It's like You vs. Your Married Self. You know that your innocent of being the same person, but everyone else sees you as being guilty of changing who you are. I mean are they the problem or you the problem? You have no control over how someone else sees you, especially if they don't even think enough of you to communicate. Of course it hurts losing a friend especially while transitioning into being someone's wife.

What can I say? It's hard out here for a wifey!

What The F: Let's Talk About Fibroids!

What The F: Let's Talk About Fibroids!

So I've HEARD of fibroids, but honestly until two weeks ago I shied away from the topic. My mom, aunts, grandma, and a few of my friends have had them and went through the surgery. At the time they brought it up, I didn't know enough about fibroids to care or to realize just how prominent they are in the African American community until NOW. Ain't that something?

DALLAS QUEENS IN BLOOM: Champagnes and Flower Crown Workshop Event Recap

May has been all about embracing the Queen within you. I often feel like we as women don't give ourselves enough credit nor do we give other queens credit. I wanted to have a meetup with queens where we could be uplifting to one another and crown ourselves because the world doesn't give us much opportunity to do so.

Suffering in Silence: Finding Your Voice in Your Relationship

Suffering in Silence: Finding Your Voice in Your Relationship

Now if you know me, you know that I’ve ALWAYS been outspoken and that I tell you exactly how it is if you ask me my opinion on something. So imagine my surprise when I lost my voice and opinion once I decided to seriously date my boyfriend. As I reflect now, I blame it on knowing the power of my tongue and the importance of being “slow to speak”. I didn’t want to say the wrong thing, so I would ponder on how to say what I wanted to say and hide the honesty of how I truly felt about some things. Who wants to be a nag?

Peer Pressure: Stay In Your Own Lane

Peer Pressure: Stay In Your Own Lane

I often spread myself thin by agreeing to do everything to the point I don’t want to do anything. Spreading yourself thin to the point that you are not even giving the full extent of what you can do.

Confession: My opinion about what I should be doing is influenced by what I see on social media and the people around me to the point I can’t even focus on the assignment that God has given me.

Faith Without Work is Dead: The MWC is Growing

If you’ve seen my video about “My Plan vs. God’s Plan” then you know that The Millennial Wives Club wasn’t my plan, it was God’s plan. Before starting this blog, I would have daily conversations with God and he would actually speak back to me in scripture. I would always end in prayer asking him to direct me to my purpose in life. One scripture in particular, James 2:14-26, would repeat over and over again.

Singleness is the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Singleness is the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Contrary to popular belief, being single is what’s poppin!

Today we live in a world of Tinder, Bumble, SoulSwipe and everything else, where you're not sure if you really can find love or friend with benefits. Nonetheless, these apps definitely keep you occupied and not alone, entertained while double tapping and swiping right a few times, and could land you a text buddy who is readily available as often as you need them. This is perfect for the women who, like the single me, get bored easily and like to keep their options open.

I'm a Wife and I Still Don't Like Sports

I'm a Wife and I Still Don't Like Sports

So here I am almost year 2 in my marriage, and I still have no urge to sit down on the couch and watch sports with my sports obsessed husband. If you recall my last blog post "My Husband Loves Sports More Than Me" then you know a little bit about where I'm going with this.

Apparently my husband really wants me to watch sports with him, so much he made a Facebook status asking people how to get me more interested. Just now that after this blog post, there will be a video coming soon because he is going to want to speak his peace on this matter #gofigure.

Lemonade at 4:44

Lemonade at 4:44

In this video, my husband and I give our opinion about societal double standards when it comes to cheating by a man and woman. Why is it more acceptable when a man cheats vs. when a woman cheats? We are seeing more and more men cheating in reality shows, on social media, and in the news. If cheating was this common amongst women would the reaction be the same?

She's Gotta Have It: The Hoe Phase

She's Gotta Have It: The Hoe Phase

She's Gotta Have It's Nola Darling, the strong black female lead, described herself as a "sex positive polyamorous pansexual". Aside from serious societal issues such as sexual harassment and society's standard of beauty addressed in this movie, the reclamation of sexuality really stuck out to me. This version of the movie is a great representation of what I'd call a millennial feminist going through a "hoe phase". In this particular case, Nola is using multiple sexual partners in her "Loving Bed" as a way to establish her sexual freedom on her own terms while hustling into her dream career as an artist, trying to balance life and friends, and exploring her sexuality as a single woman.
