Where do I start? How about the fact that I never saw this coming.
I actually prayed that God would bless me with a man who could show me true love and loved me no matter what. I vowed to stop looking and just live my life in hopes that whoever he had for me found me and never let me go.
Travis and I met on Twitter, and for the longest time we were embarrassed to tell people that, but hey...the cat is out of the bag now! In 2009 Travis and I initially met as @ModelPEARLsona and @TjSmooth4 on Twitter through mutual greek friends and we both shared an outlandish Twitter personality. I don't know if you all are familiar with the Numbers Game that originated on Twitter back in 2010, but it was basically flirting, in which a user tweets something to the effect of "DM me a number from 1-500 and I'll tell you what I think of you." We both flirted with one another and finally exchanged numbers after I expressed interest in possibly attending college in North Carolina, which is where Travis was attending school.
Wow, I'm only on how we exchanged numbers? Okay, let me speed this up a little...
On July 16, 2011, Travis and I met in Waterloo, Iowa for the first time! It was love at first sight! While I was hesitant to jump the gun, Travis sure didn't hold back his feelings when he asked me to "be his girl" the first night. I told him, "we'll see how things go because I don't know you well enough to make that decision."
Two months passed and we made it official, September 2, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend) when Travis invited me to GHOE (Homecoming). Throughout the long distance relationship, we spent time flying back and forth to see one another at least every other month for the weekend.
One day Travis asked me, "where do you see yourself living?". I told him "I wouldn't mind moving to Texas, Atlanta, or North Carolina." It was Travis' last year by then and he started applying to jobs in the places I said I would like to live.
In May 2012, Travis graduated and was offered a job opportunity with Pepsi-Co in Mesquite, TX and asked me to move there with him. In July 2012, we moved to Mesquite, TX and later Dallas, TX which is where we live now. We both had a lot of growing and adjusting to do together as a couple. This was a new experience for us both, new city, no family and friends-just each other, new jobs, new responsibilities, and a lot of patience.
On May 16, 2015 Travis proposed! Now, Travis isn't the most creative person I know, but he is definitely thoughtful; and the proposal was both. His proposal involved sending me on a scavenger hunt of all our firsts and leaving an envelope with clues at every location which led me to him and a few close friends on the roof of the NYLO hotel downtown. And when he asked me, I said "YES, IT'S ABOUT TIME!"
We BOTH knew ultimately we were THE one for each other. Nobody but God brought us and is keeping us together.
These events have led us to JULY, 16, 2016 where Travis and I became Husband and Wife.
