DIY FASHION: THE FLOWER CHILD JACKET

TIAESQUEFLOWERJACKET

I don't know if it was the Easter spirit or the separation anxiety of being away from flowers or what, but this happened and I'M SO EXCITED about it!

So I have decided to dedicate 1-2 weekends out of a month to creating DIY Fashion pieces to exercise my creativity and love for designing things. Now I've always been the one to think big and run wild with my imagination. About 2 weeks ago, I thought about how "right on time" it would be to create a statement jacket of flowers resembling a fur jacket.

Why not?! I think of myself as a Flower Child, it's spring, I'm extra, and I love all things colorful.

Now as bizarre as that idea is, I always research to see if there was anyone else just as bizarre in hopes to maybe get some type of inspiration on the "how to make it happen". In this case, I definitely found someone with a wild imagination like me! Kelly from Studio DIY did a beautiful Faux Flower Jacket  last year literally the same day I thought of making one a year later! What are the odds of that!? We must be connected right?

Well thanks to Kelly and her very detailed instructions, I was able to figure out the "how to make it happened", gather my materials and this happened!

MATERIALS

  • Glue Gun
  • Different styles and sizes of Faux Flowers
  • A lightweight collarless jacket
  • Scissors and Wire Cutters

This project gets very pricey when it comes to buying the flowers, but the process of selecting the flowers was so much fun! I knew I wanted variation in sizes and color. You really need to have a vision of what you want when selecting flowers.

The process of arranging the flowers on the jacket made me feel like a Florist, because I'm basically creating a bouquet. I started with placing the big flowers and filling in with the smaller flowers.

This project took me about 3-4 hours.

THE OUTCOME was better than I could even expect it to be. The whole time I was thinking "OMG, who does this?!" A true flower child that's who!

If you are interested in wanting one for yourself or if you're in the Dallas area and want to rent it, please comment below or shoot me an e-mail to discuss details.
